A cross between a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/citrusvariety.ucr.edu\/crc132\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eNagami kumquat\u003c\/a\u003e and a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/citrusvariety.ucr.edu\/crc3026\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eDancy mandarin history | UCR\u003c\/a\u003e, it traces its roots back to an open pollinated seedling living under a grand old Nagami tree at UCLA. The fruit is bell shaped and much larger than the average kumquat, ranging from the size of a table grape to as large as a golf ball. The Mandarinquat tree typically blooms during the summer months and the late fall. If the season has been favorable, it will produce an abundant crop that remains throughout the winter months and into the late spring. The fragrant blossoms attract our favorite pollinator friends, such as hummingbirds and a multitude of bees - and humans alike!
